For those hungry for more power in Raw or other kit cars, we are now offering our new upgraded supercharged 2.0L Zetec developing 220 bhp from a standard bolt on package. With modified internals and  the supercharger setup another hundred horse power is possible. This system developed in conjunction with OMEX is producing blistering performance through a linear power curve that makes power delivery very manageable. Available as an engine package, or as a bolt on supercharger kit, just remap and go!

powerful kit car engines from RawRaw’s new kit car engines can produce big power to weight ratios making for plenty of pickup to match the Raw chassis handling capabilities, without being so heavy as to effect your cornering.  This makes for a car setup capable of letting you to propel yourself past super-cars on track and stay ahead !

We have also added the option of combining the new flagship engines with a Sadev sequential gearbox available through Raw Striker Ltd. and offering flat-shift and gear changes in 0.04 seconds for practically seamless acceleration from 0-max. velocity. Sadev systems have been tried and tested for years in Rally cars and are a proven power delivery method we are very excited about, although they are not ideal budget projects!

Superchargers are also available for the 20v Toyota 4A-GE silver top engines.

Available as a full kit or part by part, this package simply bolts onto the engine and with the addition of a rolling road engine mapping session you can up your horse power from 145bhp and 116lbft of torque to an amazing  215bhp and 165lbft torque. The engine maintains its high revving characteristics and  smooth power curve means it remains extremely driveable.
The package includes the parts needed to convert the 20v silvertop Toyota 4A-GE engine to 220bhp without internal modification.

Ford Zetec 2.0

Raw’s Ford Zetec 2.0 range of engines and upgrades…

produced in conjunction with OMEX have been developed to be solutions that are truly ‘turn-key’. The engines are all hot run on a test rig, the cams run-in, throttle bodies balanced and emissions pre-set where applicable.

Ford Zetec

The complete package is run to ensure that everything is fully tested as a unit, including the ECU and the wiring harness that will remain with your engine. As the ECUs are pre-calibrated to your engine specification, there is no need for any OmexPower engine to to be run on a rollingroad or engine dyno and no PC connection is required. The engine is shipped fully assembled so can be simply fitted and started. A range of power outputs and optional extras are available so that you can choose the perfect engine for your vehicle.

Base engine

Based on NEW Ford Zetec 2.0 Focus engines

Electronics

All engines are supplied with a pre-calibrated ECU, joined to the engine using a heatshrunk
race-spec wiring harness. All required sensors are also included.

Inlet System

Standard inlet used on engine ZE20F010. Proven, reliable, Jenvey throttle bodies are used on all other
engines. Injectors and fuel pressure regulator are also included.

Sump

A new cast wet sump with internal baffles and improved ground clearance is included.

Flywheel and clutch

A standard flywheel and clutch is included with the engine. Upgrades are available.

Ignition

DIS coil pack, ignition leads, and spark plugs are all included.

Alternator

A two wire high output alternator fitted with billet aluminium brackets.

Cams

Standard cams in the 145 and 170 engine. Uprated cams in the 185 and 200 engines.

Cylinder Head

Standard head on the 145, 170 and 185 engines. Modified head on the 200 engine.

Optional extras

Lightened flywheels, starter motors, and bellhousings are all available, as well as many others.

Our engines are low mileage imports and c
ome with a 6 month warranty. The 16v variant is a pre-1992 model and as such is exempt from the catalytic converter regulations when installed for the British market. We provide all the ancillaries needed to install these engines in specialist cars. We also provide and install cost effective performance upgrades.

Since Raw introduced the Toyota 4age 1600cc multivalve engine over seven years ago it has acquired over 250 passionate followers.

The high revving characteristics along with the strong smooth power curve immediately created a reputation for exciting performance especially suited to light performance cars such as the Striker.

In defining a power upgrade strategy Raw did supply the 145bhp Silvertop version in standard form. Due to prices for these engines fluctuating wildly today, we now only supply a bolt on supercharger option raising the power to 220 and 270+ bhp with internal upgrades. The first upgrade to 220 bhp retains all the standard injectors and there is no need to decompress – Nb. this is available from Raw today.

This upgrade has been undertaken in conjunction with Omex Technology using the highly efficient Rotrex supercharger which could be described as a belt driven turbocharger. As it is the size of an alternator it has created the possibility of a very neat lightweight installation. Also there is no lag and a very progressive torque and power curve making driving safe at low to medium revs but absolutely mind blowing higher up the rev range. This type suits a road and track configuration. All kits come with the Rotrex supercharger, intercooler, plenum, pipe work, filter and all fixing and additional electronics needed for the Omex 600 system

Bike engined cars have been popular in hillclimb single seaters, some dedicated circuit race formuale such as Radicals and Formula 600.

At Raw we have used a number of bike engines for customer cars, the Yamaha R1 proving popular and reliable.

Motorbike powered Raw kit cars have proved to be fantastic fun on the road and outstanding on track, the sound of a superbike engine at full-tilt is intoxicating and undeniably racey. The close ratio of a motorbike gearbox combined with the high revving engine and instant gear change is not for everyone however. Is it for you? If you like to drive at track days and are looking for a reasonably priced power source that will provide excitement at a sensible rate, this could just be what you are looking for. As power sources go the bike engine provides a good deal. Engine and gearbox with all engine electrics from a damaged bike will set you back around £1,000 or less. Select carefully and you could build a great car for a great price.
